Description
This poignant painting captures the tender relationship between an endangered chimpanzee and its favorite cuddly toy, which happens to be another chimpanzee. The image stands as a powerful metaphor for the threat faced by these majestic creatures, depicting the vulnerability and fragility of their existence. The chimpanzee, representing not only its own endangered species but also all endangered species around the world, finds solace and comfort in the presence of its companion toy. This profound connection highlights the innate longing for companionship and connection that all living beings possess, even amidst the challenges and dangers they face. By juxtaposing the chimpanzee with its toy, the painting invites viewers to reflect upon their own responsibility in safeguarding the natural world and embracing compassion towards all creatures. It calls upon us to recognize the urgency of protecting endangered species, ensuring that future generations can savor the companionship, beauty, and biodiversity that nature so gracefully offers.
Artwork Features
Bringing all your favourite things to life, from that pair of converse sneakers you wear every day to your most precious teacup, and pairing them with some of the most endangered animals in the world, Gillie and Marc are giving a unique perspective on the things we consider to be most important. Inspired by pop artists such as Andy Warhol and mixed with beautifully realistic animals using their iconic thick texture painting style, this Pop Realism collection is bringing the wild into our lives in a striking yet joyous experience.
Over the past five years, Gillie and Marc spent hours sketching and studying wildlife, travelling the globe to meet these animals up close. These sketches have now been brought to life in vibrant colour with love and passion. Each painting is created as a team with both the artists bringing their own emotion into every painting.
